Exclusive: Bestbuy Will Pay You To Review Your New Gadget

Would you like to be paid to write reviews? If you’re a customer of Best But, you’ll soon have the option. According to exclusive sources for Appstorechronicle.com at Best Buy, they will soon “expanding customer reviews by giving RewardZone points [Bestbuy’s loyalty program] for writing them“.  This is all part of a renewed effort by Bestbuy to drive online sales by giving customers information.

Back in the days when the web was just a place for nerds and techies, Best Buy’s stores did immensely well thanks to a policy that eliminated commissions on the sales floor. It gave the customer a sense of trust that the blueshirt (Best Buy Employees) had the customer’s best interests at heart.

In the new internet age, Best Buy has lost ground to other retailers like Amazon that have more reviews on their products. Customers go searching for professional reviews, and peer reviews, and often buy from another retailer.

Best Buy Wants Your Business

Best Buy’s effort to keep customers on the Bestbuy site as long as possible is going beyond just offering rewards to reviewers. According to Scott Durchslag, Best Buy’s president of Global E-commerce and marketing, Best Buy reviews will also be “ linking with Facebook so you can see reviews written on any site by your friends, and adding Blue Shirt Reviews”. Best Buy is trying to bring back that same in-store Blue shirt passion that was so successful offline.

In addition to Blue Shirts, and customers, Best Buy will also be integrating cnet reviews onto the Best Buy site, creating a one-stop information hub, so that customers don’t have to go elsewhere.

Simply put, the quicker Best Buy can convince customers to buy a product, the less likely they are to lose that customer to a competitor. Instead of having to search around the web for product information, it will all be right on the product page.

According to Durchslag, “[customers] will see this coming on to the site by [the] Holidays”. Will you be looking forward to this new buying experience?
