Think setting up a computer is complicated? You’re wrong there. Here’s a guide so simple that a two year old could learn it.
Step 1. Take everything out of the box (duh). In this case you’re going to need a screen (not included), a mouse, a keyboard, and the computer.
Step 2. Plug in the computer using the back power cord but do not turn it on. I recommend plugging into a grounded power source for proper protection of your expensive device. Plug in Ethernet in back if necessary.
Step 3. Plug the mouse and keyboard into either the back or front USB ports if necessary. Apple’s wired keyboards normally have a USB port on the right side allowing you to wire your mouse to your keyboard tethering it and avoid using up two USB ports. If they use Bluetooth and not wired, see below.
Step 4. (not necessary if your peripherals are wired and you performed step 3). Turn on the computer and calibrate your peripherals (mouse and keyboard). Don’t forget to put in batteries; it does happen sometimes/
Step 5. Turn on the computer if you haven’t yet. The setup window is fast and should take no more than 5 minutes for basic settings.
Step 6. Enjoy your brand new mac. Sit back, relax, and get surfing, editing, or doing whatever you do with your Mac Pro.
