Lenovo Says Bye Bye to China, Hello USA

Lenovo’s Thinkpad Tablet

I wanted to send a big Kudos to PC maker Lenovo which is building a factory right here in the USA.

The Carolinas seem to be gaining all kinds of industry these days, from Apple with a data center for iCloud, to factories for Boeing’s 787. Anyways, considering that nearly every computer company is churning out both components, and full builds for $1 a pop (hyperbole) in China, I see this as  a major move. Lenovo happens to be one of my favorite PC manufacturers already, but the fact that they gave up the advantages of foreign manufacturing and created jobs really endears them to me. Lenovo’s supply chain chief, Gerry Smith said it wasn’t just publicity. “”Now we are big enough in the U.S. to justify this move,”.

The next PC I buy or recommend (I do use PCs sometimes as well) will probably be a Lenovo.
