60 Days Without Internet: Day 13

How would a nerd react to being cut off from his precious internet and email for two months? That’s what we set out to find out. It’s day 13 of my 60 days without email (and most internet) and I’m going to literally die of boredom. Just kidding. I’m doing fine with good ol’ snail mail and phone calls, and living life to the fullest.

This week I’ve spent a lot more time outside and doing physical activities. Last night I sat on a beach and watched heat lightening far off in the clouds. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and I never would have seen it without this challenge. The night before I watched a beautiful full orange moon set.

As much as I love technology, I’ve learned that there really are times when we need to put down the technology and look around. Instead of blasting rap, try just listening to nature. Instead of spending twenty minutes adjusting your camera’s aperture, and ISO to get the perfect low light shot of the moon (I’ve been there) I’ve put my camera down and enjoyed what I was looking at and preserved it in memory. I’m really having a great time.

Have a wonderful fourth of July to all you fellow Americans, and to those of you elsewhere, enjoy whatever holiday you have coming up soon. I’ll update you more in another few days.
