It’s not just you. Optimum is down throughout their network on Sunday August 18th – including phone, internet, and TV. According to various sources, queues of customers trying to talk to them are reaching the thousands, and even tens of thousands. Unfortunately, the company is publicly silent, not taking to their social media accounts to broadcast information (as they should). The cause is unknown, but servicemen estimate that all services should be restored by 11 PM tonight (I know – that’s a while).
So, How Can I Get Internet and TV?
Here are a few things you can do:
- Follow this tutorial to make your iPhone, iPad, or other device into a Wifi Hotspot. This will provide for your current internet needs (I’m writing this, tethering my computer to my iPad Mini).
- Use your devices to watch TV via Netflix, Youtube, or Hulu
- Stream the above ^ using a Chromecast ($35), Apple TV ($99), or Roku.
