Phones, electronics, and liquid don’t mix. As one person put it yesterday on Google Plus, “Beer + Macbook Pro = tears. I’ve learnt my lesson and keep liquids as far away from my machine as possible”.
Sony is setting out to change that among many other things with their brand new Sony Xperia Z, an Android smartphone running Jellybean (4.1 soon to be upgraded to 4.2) which they released on the first day of CES. Honestly, if the video proves to be accurate, this could be one of the best phones out there.
The video shows the phone to be waterproof, dustproof, sport a 1080p 13MP+ Camera (comparatively the iPhone 5 has 8), and a huge screen. According to the release, it’s a full five inches, bringing it in range of competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy SIII, and it sports a full HD display.
Now for the big question: Is it fast? Most likely. It boasts the all new quad core processor by Snapdragon (commonly hailed as the latest and greatest in smartphone processing) and 2 Gigabytes of Ram. That’s 4 times the RAM and the cores of the first computer I ever owned myself (not a family computer)!
If I were to get an Android Smartphone, I would probably buy the Xperia Z based on the available information. It looks super-thin, fast, and waterproof (big for me because I like going to remote places). I also love photography which makes the high resolution sensor a very appealing feature to me. Hopefully I’ll be able to get my hands on one of these soon to do a full review, but until then, check out the video of it below.
