What We Could Learn From Pixar’s Cars

The town of Radiator Springs from Disney Pixar’s Cars may far from reality, but it turns out that the situation the town faces is not dissimilar to what many small towns in America are really facing.

As highways were built, towns along those routes prospered from the business of the travelers though. But technology advanced as it does and it became easier to build faster, straighter routes. Roads were built higher and entire towns were lost.

Along with the road went industry, jobs, taxes and inevitably government, and eventually these towns just weren’t able to sustain themselves. I’ve seen that this is still going on to this day and it saddens me.

Ultimately progress must happen, but it’s sad to see the result. Are a few saved minutes on the highway really worth destroying a community?
