Thought ipod is king? Sony wants you to think again. Sony just released its’ new f800 walkman alongside several lesser devices they released, they hope to grab a share of Apple’s practical MP3 monopoly. I say fat chance.

The device is running Android’s ICS which would be impressive had this been released a few weeks ago before google released their beautiful Nexus 7 for a tiny $200 running the newer Jellybean OS. At $250, Sony is hoping you’ll pay for their extra audio quality. I’m really underwhelmed with what Sony is offering.
Sure, they’re going after the itouch market rather than the tablet market, but Google is offering a newer OS, 1 camera, and a quad core processor with 1 GB of RAM for $200, and they’re offering a dual core older OS device without cameras for $270-300. Are they insane? Why even try? Sony is offering an inferior product at a $100 premium. I’m not saying the new device sucks, but it’s seriously overpriced for what it is.
Ipod touches come with faster chips, a better OS (in my opinion), more compatible apps, a better bigger screen, and two fine cameras and equal storage for $200-300. The F800 is overpriced, and it’s underpowered compared to most devices which makes me think that it’s a don’t buy.
